Norma Dell Burton Crocker, “Grammy”, 80, died Monday, July 6, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Dendron, Norma was the daughter of Garland C. Sr. and Minnie Hill Burton.  In addition to her parents, Norma is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil L. Crocker Sr. and a daughter, Yvonne B. Crocker, and three brothers, Garland C. Burton, Jr., James Hill Burton Sr., and Carl Martin Burton.

Norma was a beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.  She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Patricia C. Edmundson, and her husband John R. III, Wanda C. Pearson and Cecil L. Crocker Jr.; five grandchildren, Lauren Riley, Sarah Capehart, Benjamin Pearson IV, Kaitlan Coates and Alexander Pearson; three great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Roman and Suri; and her loving siblings, Richard L. Burton,Sr., Alice Morgan, Judith Applegate and Virginia Goldos.

For many years Norma was a loan officer for local finance companies in addition to being a stay-at-home mom and a meticulous housekeeper.  She and her late husband, Cecil, will be remembered as the ‘best dancers in Isle of Wight County”.  She was quirky, with a great sense of humor.

She supported the VFW and was a member of the Woman’s Auxiliary.  In her last days, Norma looked forward to visits from friends and family, especially her children, siblings — cracking jokes and funning with whoever was around.

A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, July 9, 11 a.m., in St. Luke’s Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Donald R. Rhoton officiating.

The family expresses thanks to the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice for their comfort and support during Norma’s illness.  The family suggests memorial contributions to VFW Post 8545, 223 Washington St. P.O.
