Like many in the county, I am glad that this election season has come to a close. The position of Sheriff belongs to the people, and the people have clearly made their choice known. I am very appreciative of the support we have received from the hundreds of volunteers who participated in this campaign. Most importantly, I am truly honored to be re-elected by the great citizens of this county.
We face many challenges in this day and age with law enforcement and public safety. We understand that nothing is accomplished without the community’s support. In the last four years, we have worked hard to meet those challenges and to maintain an office that regards the public trust with the upmost respect. We will continue to sustain that foundation of integrity and professionalism in everything we do.
Campaigns are not for the faint of heart. They are tough and time-consuming. In this case it was a six-month job interview and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve all of our citizens here in Isle of Wight County for another term. Your vote and endorsement of the progress made, rejuvenates our office and renews our pledge to you. Please know that we will strive to live up to the high expectations demanded of your Sheriff’s Office. Thank you for your support and now the real work continues.
Mark A. Marshall
