I wish to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the many fine citizens of Surry who took the time to go to the polls and cast their vote for me last Tuesday. To those who put their day on hold to work the polls in my behalf, I am deeply grateful. For the many prayers and for the verbal support received, I am truly humbled.

As in any election, the choice is not only about the candidates, but is also decided on the various issues surrounding the office. Lessons can and should be learned from the concerns of those who voted for myself and Janeen Jackson. This is what makes our system of government a shining example to the world.

May the next eight years find many blessings for our clerk, Gail Clayton, and her staff as they continue to serve the citizens of Surry, the Commonwealth and our visitors.
