TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF SMITHFIELD
SPECIAL USE PERMIT
Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Town Council in the council chambers in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia, on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. to consider the application of Trinity United Methodist Church for a special use permit under the provisions of Article 3.D, Section C-1, and Article 6 of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted September 1, 1998, and as amended thereafter, in order to approve the use of the property for the construction of a columbarium and memorial garden. The property which is the subject of this special use permit is Trinity United Methodist Church has the address of 201 Cedar Street and is located at the intersection of Cedar Street and N. Mason Street. The property is identified as Map Parcel #21A-01- 303 & 358 on the current land records for Isle of Wight County.
The property in question is zoned DN-R, Downtown Neighborhood Residential District.
Any person affected by or interested in the aforesaid application may appear at the hearing and be heard. Copies of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield and application for this special use permit are available for inspection in the offices of the Planning and Zoning, 310 Institute Street, Smithfield, Virginia 23430.

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 15.2-1903 of the Code of Virginia that the Town Council of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Town Council in the council chambers in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia, on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. to consider the adoption of the following ordinance:
AN ORDINANCE TO INITIATE A CONDEMNATION PROCEEDINGS AS TO REAL PROPERTY KNOWN AS LOT 51, PINEWOOD HEIGHTS HAVING THE ADDRESS OF 52 CARVER AVENUE IN THE TOWN OF SMITHFIELD OWNED BY TASHA GREEN MOORE.
The Town has agreed to acquire the subject property as part of its Pinewood Heights Relocation project. The property owner has agreed that the property may be acquired by the Town but the owner is unable to convey valid title to the property.
Any person desiring to be heard in favor of or in opposition to or to express his or her views with respect to the aforesaid Ordinance may appear at the hearing and be heard. AND INVITATION TO BID
Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Town Council in the council chambers in the Town Hall, , on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. to consider the adoption of the following ordinance:
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE FRANCHISE AGREEMENT WITH SMITHFIELD LANDING COMPANY GRANTING THE EXCLUSIVE RIGHT AND PRIVILEGE TO LEASE CERTAIN PROPERTY OWNED BY THE TOWN OF SMITHFIELD AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AND RESTRICTION PERTAINING TO SUCH GRANT.
The public is hereby invited to submit bids in writing for the franchise, right, privilege and lease proposed to be granted by this ordinance. The proposed amended terms shall be a grant of 40 years. All bids must be in writing and must be submitted not later than 12:00 noon on February 29, 2016 to the Town Manager at his offices located at 911 S. Church Street, Smithfield, Virginia 23430.

The Surry County School Board will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, March 08, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at L. P. Jackson Middle School to receive comments on the FY 2016-2017 Operating Budget. Parents, patrons and other interested parties are welcome to comment. Copies of the proposed school budget will be available for review at each school office, the school board office, and the Surry and Claremont Public Libraries on February 24, 2016.

PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF SMITHFIELD
SPECIAL USE PERMIT
Notice is hereby given that the Planning Commission of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Planning Commission in the council chambers in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia, on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. to consider the application of the Town of Smithfield, owner, for a special use permit under the provisions of Article 3.L., Section C., and Article 6 of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted September 1, 1998, and as amended thereafter, in order to approve a waiver of parking and loading requirements to permit the use of a gravel parking surface without curb and gutter for the off street parking area. The property which is the subject of this special use permit is the Clontz Park property located on Clontz Way on the northeast side of the North Church Street bridge which is identified as Tax Map Parcel No. 21-01-099 on the current Tax Maps for Isle of Wight County. The property in question is zoned Heavy Industrial District (I-2). The applicant proposes to construct a boat launch facility upon the property.
