James “Frank” F. Wells

IVOR — James “Frank” F. Wells, 81 of Ivor passed away at his residence with his family by his side on Friday Sept. 23, 2016. Frank was the son of the late Ernest F. Wells and Dorothy Barlow Wells.
Frank proudly served six years in the United States Army. Frank had retired from the truck shop at Smithfield Packing, and started his trucking company Wells Cargo. After retirement from the trucking business, he enjoyed passing the days with friends and neighbors at his inspection garage on the farm where he had also enjoyed his hobby as a pilot; flying from an airstrip between the fields. Frank was an active member and deacon of Mill Swamp Baptist Church. He was an AWANA and FAITH TEAM leader, and a member of the adult Sunday school class.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Christine L. Wells; five daughters, Patty Wells, Brenda Whittemore ( Robert ), Linda Harvell (David), Deborah Wells and Amanda J. Douglas; one son, Gearin R. Stephens; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Adam, Candace, Brittany, Naven and Nick; six great-grandchildren, David, Kaiden, Madison, Adam, Miranda and Mekenzie; and one brother, Donald Wells (Pam).
A funeral was held Sept. 26, in Mill Swamp Baptist Church with the Rev Jim Jones and the Rev Billy Gardner officiating. Burial followed in Mill Swamp Cemetery.
