Frank Houston “Hudy” Williams

Frank Houston “Hudy” Williams died Jan. 10, 2017. He was born Feb. 28, 1914 in Southampton County to the late Stephen and Salley Edmond Williams. He was the oldest of nine surviving children of this union. He was married to Carrie Wrenn Williams, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Mabel Lanier. 

Frank is survived by his daughters, Iola Thomas of Fayetteville, N.C. and Barbara Pritchett of Hampton; son, Frank H. Williams Jr. of Hampton; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma Walker of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Nettie Morgan (Joseph) of Gladys; sister-in-law, Lucy Williams of Hampton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Frank served proudly and honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II, from March 19, 1941 to Oct. 9, 1945. His tour of duty included Fort Meade, Fort Dix, England, France and Germany. He lived in Newport News for many years, having worked at Newport News shipyard. His last years were spent in Smithfield.  

His family dearly misses him.
