Linda Jean Crawley Tynes

Linda Jean Crawley Tynes, 65, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Jan. 7, 2017. She was born Aug. 12,1951 to the late James Collin and the Rev. Annie Belle White Crawley. She graduated from Smithfield High School and received her post secondary education in Washington, D.C, earning a certificate as a key punch operator. She retired medically after several years of working as an enthusiastic sales associate at AMES and Maxway department store in Smithfield.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her late husband Luther Tynes; and two sisters, Sarah E. Jones (William) and Brenda C.Taliaferro.

 She is survived by her daughter, Sherrie Crawley of Smithfield, sons, James V. Tynes and Dimitri L.Tynes of Georgia; grandchildren, Donte Wilson, Quanisha and Myeisha (twins) and Takwon and Dakwon (twins), all of Smithfield; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and she lovingly leaves behind one sister, Otelia Crawley Hendricks (Frank) of Hampton; brother in-law, Herman Taliaferro; and a devoted niece, Felicia Jones Scott (Michael) of Smithfield.

 A celebration of life (memorial service) will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21 at Sweet Haven Holy Church of God, Carrollton with the Rev. Patrick Plourde officiating.  At the family’s request, there will not be a viewing of the body.
