Hazel Lee Crocker Cornett, 89 of Smithfield, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family, on Jan. 15, 2019.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Cornett. She was a faithful member of Smithfield Baptist Church and a life long member of the Gladys Barlow Circle. She lived most of her life in the town of Smithfield and loved walking around downtown or sitting on the porch watching the world pass by with a wave. She enjoyed gardening, canning, reading, crafts, baking, crosswords and spending time with her family and church friends. Her beautiful smile and wave will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Cornett Young (Edward); granddaughters, Natalie and Phaedra Bangley; and great grandchildren, Landon Young, Charlie Block, Vincent Allen, Kori Wilson and Layla Wilson. 

A service was held at Smithfield Baptist Church on Jan. 18.
