Blues on stage Friday

The Summer Concert Series continues with an evening of blues Friday as Bobby “Black Hat” Walters returns to the Gazebo Stage for his seventh visit. The performance begins at 8 p.m.
Walters has had a remarkable career that began with a 27-year stint as a U.S. Coast Guard officer. While in the Coast Guard, a favorite pastime was playing the harp. After retirement, he decided to try his hand at blues. Walters write much of his music, and has since released four CD’s. His song “I Hear Mama’s Voice” won the 2012 Blewzzy Award for Song of the Year.
The Summer Concert Series is sponsored by The Smithfield Times and the Isle of Wight Arts League. Concerts are free to the public and are underwritten with private donations.
