Two individuals living in the Western Tidewater Health District have tested positive for COVID-19.
One is a 50-year old Suffolk man and the other is a 27-year old woman with a Smithfield address, according to the Western Tidewater Health District and Isle of Wight County.
The Western Tidewater Health District includes Isle of Wight County.
The man had returned from a trip from New York when he experienced a rapid onset of symptoms, according to the WTHD. More details about the Isle of Wight woman were obtained Sunday.
“She was informed that she was a contact of another positive COVID-19 case and later sought testing/treatment when she became symptomatic. She is isolating herself and recovering at home,” said Hill in an email.
Hill said the health department is classifying these cases in one of three ways — local contact, that is, they know who the other person was; a traveler; or spread in the community in an unknown way.
