Tony and Patty Zarraga, owners of El Burrito Mexican Restaurant in Carrollton, recently treated three 2020 Smithfield High School graduates to a special dining experience via the El Burrito Streets Food Truck in recognition of the students’ patriotism.

The first honoree, Taylor Curro, organized a campaign to send 2,020 thank you notes to deployed servicemen and women stationed around the world. The second, Charles Cutler, placed first in a speech contest through the Veterans of Foreign Wars on the topic of citizenship and patriotism. The third, Ian Holloman, delivered a speech at the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Banquet hosted by the Isle of Wight NAACP on the topic of civil rights.

“The Zarraga family has such big hearts for their country, their community and the youth that live here,” said Matt Ployd, a Smithfield High School teacher. “SHS is extremely appreciative for their immense generosity in honoring these phenomenal students.”
