Route 692 (Uzzell Church Road) at the bridge over Champion Swamp in Isle of Wight County is scheduled to close on or about Nov. 9 for bridge repairs, the Virginia Department of Transportation recently announced.

Signed detours will be in place during the closure directing motorists to use Route 654 (Carroll Bridge Road), Route 620 (Scotts Factory Road), Route 258 (Courthouse Highway) and Route 652 (Bob White Road).

To bypass the bridge closure from Carroll Bridge Road to Bob White Road, turn left onto Scotts Factory Road, left onto Courthouse Highway and left onto Bob White Road. From Bob White Road to Carroll Bridge Road, turn right onto Courthouse Highway, right onto Scotts Factory Road and right onto Carroll Bridge Road.

VDOT said all construction work is dependent upon weather conditions and some work may take place at night. The project should be completed later this fall.
