Overdevelopment needs to stop

Editor, The Smithfield Times:

I agree with Gayle Gillerlain’s letter (“It’s time to fight overdevelopment,” Nov. 25).

As a former member of the Board of Supervisors for Isle of Wight County, business owner in Smithfield for 50-plus years and a resident of Carrollton for 74-plus years, I believe the board has lost the will of voters, and Smithfield Town Council will also if they approve the Mallory Scott Farm subdivision.

Whatever happened to the will of your constituents? Every one of you were elected to carry out the will of the people. I bet you can’t find anyone who wants to add more subdivisions to already overcrowded roads and schools; not to mention, this will add to the crime in our area.

Ladies and gentlemen, there should be a moratorium on all subdivisions until COVID virus is over, and then bear in mind, you do not work for staff or contractors; you work for us, the people.
