Claremont under boil water notice

A boil water notice is in effect for Claremont residents following emergency repairs made to a water main at the intersection of Spring Grove and Manchia Avenues.

According to Mayor George Edwards, the issue involves an “old cap saddle,” a problem he said occurs frequently in the town during the winter.

“We’ve had to shut the water system down, so at that point we have to issue a boil water notice,” Edwards said.

The notice will remain in effect until the town sends water samples to a lab and gets confirmation that the water system conforms to drinking water standards.
