George Thomas White Jr., 73, passed away April 9, 2021. He was born in Newport News, the son of the late George Thomas White Sr. and Sylvia Elizabeth Turner White. George retired as a truck driver for Food Lion Inc. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Smithfield.  George is predeceased by his wife of 25 years, Nancy Baines Gurley White; and sister, Leona W. Sower. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam.

George is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Howard White and Meghan; granddaughters, Cameron White, Reagan White; brother, Dennis Howard White and numerous cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at St. Luke’s Memorial Park, 14477 Benns Church Blvd., Smithfield, VA 23430 with the Rev. Greg Gray officiating. A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434.
