Editor, The Smithfield Times:
The Mallory Scott Farm development proposal will:
- Alter the character of Smithfield, Rescue, Battery Park and Carrollton.
- Raise taxes for all residents.
- Increase student enrollment beyond its current capacity.
- Cause environmental damage, loss of animal habitat and negatively impact water quality.
- Increase traffic on our congested two-lane roads, especially the Nike Park Road and Battery Park Road area with no turn lanes.
- Overstress police, fire and rescue services, and those who volunteer.
- Increase existing flooding for already established neighborhoods, such as Wellington Estates, with severe flooding issues that have not been resolved.
