Isle of Wight County’s School Board has rescheduled its meeting scheduled for this afternoon to July 12 due to a forecast of inclement weather from Tropical Storm Elsa this afternoon.

Yesterday, the school system had announced it was moving the start time for the meeting’s open session component from 6 p.m. to 4 p.m. According to school division spokeswoman Lynn Briggs, the decision to now move the meeting to next week was made in consultation with Isle of Wight County’s Department of Emergency Management in light of a worsening forecast that now shows severe weather this afternoon and evening.

The July 12 meeting will still be held in Smithfield High School’s auditorium and be streamed live through the school division’s Facebook and YouTube pages. The meeting agenda is available at: https://www.iwcs.k12.va.us/apps/pages/schoolboardmeetings.
