Editor, The Smithfield Times:
This district deserves a delegate who is committed to all its citizens.
Michael Drewry has served on the Surry County Board of Supervisors since 2015. In his law practice he represents many rural interests, including county governments and family farmers. Also, he is a small farmer (i.e., small business) raising both livestock and field crops.
During his term in office, Mr. Drewry and the Board of Supervisors have addressed important issues for the citizens of Surry County. Every household in rural Surry now has access to high-speed internet. Hampton Roads Sanitation District is extending sewage lines into Surry that will facilitate current and future needs. Claremont has upgraded its water system. His experience in law and infrastructure will be a resource for the rest of the district.
He knows that development in rural areas is inevitable but can be stringently regulated.
In addition, Mr. Drewry appears to walk the talk as he advocates for rural revival, community engagement and unity. His fundraising is from ordinary citizens, not from corporations and political action committees.
It is fortunate for the 64th District that a candidate with considerable talent and experience is on the ballot, and I hope you will join me and vote for Michael Drewry.
