Macon Ray Edwards

Macon Ray Edwards, formerly of Isle of Wight County, died on July 4th, 2022 in Franklin, VA at the age of 82. Edwards, who was an avid huntsman and fisherman, served a career in the U.S. Navy achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He attended NTC Great Lakes, was number one in his class and served as Brigade Commander at Graduation. During his tours of duty he served at Yorktown, Norfolk (CINCLANTFLT Staff), Hawaii (CINCPACFLT Staff), Florida, Washington, D.C. at the Pentagon, and Little Creek, VA, from September 1973 to May 1984 on inactive duty, U.S. Naval Reserve.

He was a son of the late Miles Archer and Bernice Lankford Edwards and father to his late sons, Miles Ashley and Curtis Lee Edwards.

He is survived by his wife, Veronica B. Edwards; son, Bryan Ray Edwards; daughter, Sherri Edwards; step-daughter, Allison Edwards; sisters, Faye E Stephenson, Joyce E Bradshaw (Johnnie); brother, Miles Randolph Edwards (Susan); as well as several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been chosen with his ashes scattered at a later time. Memorials may be made to Central Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, c/o James E. Crocker, 102258 Central Hill Road, Windsor, VA 23487.
