The Chargers, 1-4, were led by senior running back Jackson Cofer, who ran for 156 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore quarterback Jason Chapman threw a touchdown pass and ran for another.
Norfolk Christian fell to 0-5. IWA plays again on Oct. 22 at Christchurch School.
Festivities included an After Party featuring the Heather Edwards Band and the 1997 IWA State Football Champions. IWA’s Macy Hooper, daughter of Chris and Julia Hooper of Smithfield, was crowned Homecoming Queen. Faith Hall of Smithfield served as Grand Marshal of the Homecoming Parade and Thomas and Beth Darden, of Smithfield, were honored as Alumnus of the Year.
