Editor, The Smithfield Times:
This year, we have several positions on the Smithfield Town Council up for election. I am writing today to express my support for Steve Bowman.
He has served our community as a police officer, a Virginia state trooper, a chief deputy sheriff and as Smithfield chief of police. During his time in law enforcement, he has always been known for going the extra mile for citizens and other first responders. His past of selfless commitment to service is a prime example of how he would serve Smithfield on Town Council.
In addition to Steve’s 40 years of public service, he also has served our commonwealth, directing a state agency with a budget of over $33 million and managing over 160 employees, which is quite the accomplishment. I have personally seen and interacted with Steve in Richmond in his previous role, and Smithfield should certainly be proud of his public service.
Steve exhibits leadership, professionalism and integrity, and I know he will be a great addition to the Town Council. On Nov. 8, I would encourage Smithfield residents to vote for Steve Bowman.
