Editor, The Smithfield Times:
It was exciting to see what the culinary art students are doing through the Isle of Wight School System (“IWCS culinary arts students prepare Thanksgiving meals for families in need,” Nov. 30).
I’ve followed these students for many years beginning when they were located at the Pruden Center in a shared culinary arts program provided by Suffolk and Isle of Wight schools.
I know that Scott Horne must be an excellent adviser and teacher to these young people. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of partaking in several of their meals and they were impressive in presentation and taste.
The picture in last week’s paper depicted a wonderful facility from which to produce fine students ready to go out into the world with valuable skills.
Keep an eye on these future chefs when hiring.
