The Virginia Department of Transportation has closed one lane of the Hollybush Road bridge over Branch Cypress Swamp in Surry County to facilitate repairs.

The closure is expected to remain in place for up to four weeks, depending on weather, during which time travel will be restricted to alternating one-way traffic controlled by a temporary signal.

The closure begins north of Route 618 (Hollybush Road’s) intersection with Route 648 (Gilpark Road). 

The work will include applying a spray liner on the culvert pipe to extend its lifespan.
