Editor, The Smithfield Times:

I saw the Gimme Shelter’s full-page “Save a Life” ad in The Smithfield Times last Wednesday.

The adorable nine dogs featured as well as others need a home to avoid euthanasia as the Isle of Wight Animal Shelter is at full capacity. The county personnel and volunteers working at the shelter are extremely dedicated in the best interest of the animals. 

I was surprised to read that the shelter is closed on Sunday. I would think that Sunday would be the second busiest day of the week for folks to visit and adopt a new family member. Perhaps the operating schedule could be reviewed by the Sheriff’s Department.
