Police rule Jersey Park deaths ‘double homicide,’ name victims

Smithfield police have determined two “suspicious” deaths at Jersey Park Apartments earlier this week to be a double homicide.
According to a department news release, the two victims have been identified as Kyonne Edwards and A’shoneya Williams, both residents of Smithfield.
Officers responded to an apartment complex in the 700 block of Wrenn Road, off West Main Street, on July 18, where, according to an earlier news release, they found bullet casings.
The department’s July 20 news release that named the victims did not provide any additional details. The July 18 news release had stated the “exact cause of death” was “unknown” at the time, though a neighbor at the scene described the incident to The Smithfield Times as a “shooting.”
