Back to school: Isle of Wight, Surry students return for first day of classes

It was mostly all smiles among students and teachers for Isle of Wight County Schools’ first day of classes on Sept. 5. The Smithfield Times visited Westside and Carrollton Elementary schools and Smithfield Middle School.
Surry County, whose School Board earlier this year approved a pre-Labor Day start, began classes on Aug. 21.
