Editor, The Smithfield Times:

It is a rare occasion to have a School Board member born in the county who still lives in

the county. 

She was educated in the Isle of Wight County School System, employed as a teacher in the Isle of Wight County School System and daughter graduated from Smithfield High School. This truly indicates her concern and dedication to the citizens of Isle of Wight County.

The person I am referring to is Ms. Denise Newby Tynes. She has served our community and

deserves our support to continue her service. 

The Virginia School Boards Association recognized her on Aug. 29. The recognition stated, “Due to your dedication to learning and developing for public education, you have attained the highest level of individual recognition in the VSBA Award of Distinction.” 

She has the experience and tenacity to continue the job. I urge you to support Ms. Denise Newby Tynes by casting your vote to reelect her to the School Board of Isle of Wight County.
