As early as Sunday, Oct. 29, contractor crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation will implement a full westbound closure and overnight detour of Brewers Neck Boulevard (Route 258/32) between Queen Annes Court and Benns Church Boulevard (Route 258/10) in Isle of Wight County for milling and paving at the intersection.
During the closure, all westbound traffic on Brewers Neck Boulevard will be detoured to Benns Grant Boulevard between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following mornings, according to a VDOT news release.
During this overnight paving work, VDOT said crews will also implement single-lane closures at the following locations:
- Westbound on Brewers Neck Boulevard from Reynolds Drive to Queen Annes Court,
- Northbound on Benns Church Boulevard between Benns Grant Boulevard and Casper Circle, and
- A left turn-lane closure from Benns Church Boulevard to Brewers Neck Boulevard.
This intersection is the final segment in the paving work from Brewers
Neck Boulevard to South Church Street that began this summer.
At times, the release said traffic at intersections within the project limits may be under the direction of flaggers on site, according to the release. Motorists should pay attention to directions from uniformed flaggers within the work zone at all times.
The work is estimated to take up to two nights, VDOT stated in the release. This work is weather-dependent, and the schedule is subject to change. Access to properties and businesses will be maintained at all times.
Motorists should use alternate routes during the overnight closures and are advised to plan their commute by using VDOT’s free traffic information tools:
