Editor, The Smithfield Times:

The article “Town Council’s Hall charged with sexual battery” in the Nov. 8 Smithfield Times has me perplexed. 

I don’t understand how a sexual assault and battery can be classified as a Class 1 misdemeanor. How does allegedly holding someone against their will, feeling her breasts, trying to go under her shirt for several minutes, sticking his tongue in her mouth and rubbing her body compare to the Class 1 misdemeanor of stealing campaign signs?
