The Smithfield High School volleyball team’s Cinderella season came to an end Saturday, Nov. 11 with a 3-1 playoff loss to Hanover in the Class 4 state quarterfinals.

The Lady Packers finished 12-12, advancing to the region playoffs and state tournament for the first time in school history under first-year head coach Denero Tagaloa.

Hanover, 21-3, prevailed with set scores of 25-11, 22-25, 25-14, 25-17.

Hanover advanced to meet Jamestown in a Nov. 14 semifinal matchup.
