Power outages linger after overnight storms; Carrsville Elementary cancels classes

More than 1,000 homes and businesses in Isle of Wight County remained without electricity Wednesday morning after strong storms passed through the region overnight.

Carrsville Elementary School had no power and canceled classes.

As of 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dominion Energy reported that 1,118 customers were without power in Isle of Wight County. That’s roughly 7.5% of the utility’s 15,085 Isle of Wight customers. In Surry County, 191 of Dominion’s 1,895 customers remained without power mid-morning.

Windsor-based Community Electric Cooperative reported 185 customers, or roughly 4% of its 4,399 Isle of Wight customers, still without power as of 10:45 a.m.
