William Lucian West Jr., 92, of Florence, S.C., passed away on December 19, 2023. He was the son of the late William Lucian West and Mary Turner West.

He is survived by his sons, William West (Susan), Michael West (Soon) and James West (Teresa); grandchildren, Wendy, Billy, Nick, Michael, Eric and David; nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen West Holt.

Mr. West grew up in Surry County. He proudly served and retired from the U S Air Force as a Major. His greatest accomplishment was being a B-52 pilot. Mr. West was a Master Mason with membership in Jefferson Lodge #65, Surry, VA. In his retirement he traveled and served in various positions in the Nuclear Power and Aviation Industry.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, 1 p.m. at the Old Brick Church Cemetery, Bacon’s Castle.
