More than 100 interested people enjoyed the chance to learn in the expo’s sessions, It also offered them access to learn what is new for our aging population from 14 different exhibitors. In a well-organized event, the community learned about important documents for estate planning, how to report to Adult Protective Services, avoiding healthcare scams, how to age in place and many other interesting topics. Senior Advocate has planned Active Aging Expos all around Virginia including Norfolk, Williamsburg, Kilmarnock and Chesapeake. According to Stephanie Smith, founder and president of Senior Advocate, the organization has helped and educated communities in Hampton Roads since 2000. Not only do they organize in-person Active Aging Expos but they also offer a virtual talk series such as the upcoming doctor and elder law series, along with church panel forums on aging in their effort to share pertinent information for our seniors and anyone who assists this population.
