Mildred Anna Dorothy Cairo, age 94, of Smithfield VA went home to be with her Lord on February 2, 2024. Born in Tarrytown NY, she has been a longtime Smithfield resident.

Mildred was dedicated to her family foremost, cared for the elderly, and would house-sit for others and their pets. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed painting.  

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Angelo Cairo; her son, Eugene Cairo, and his wife; and two sons-in-law.  She is survived by her children Theresa DeRosa (Vincent), Angelina Wyss (Don Faranda), Joseph Cairo, Phillip J. Cairo, Christine Shourot (Robert), and John Cairo (Brandi) and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild.

Mildred directed there be no service following the cremation of her earthly remains.  The family suggests memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
