Stabbing suspect surrenders to Smithfield Police

The suspect accused of stabbing a man last week turned himself in to Smithfield Police on Monday morning, May 6.
Police were dispatched on Thursday afternoon, May 2, to the 600 block of Quail Street, where they found a man with a stab wound. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is receiving treatment, according to a department news release published to the department’s Facebook page a few minutes after 7 p.m.
Police have named Tarvarus Kea, 49, of Smithfield as the suspect.
According to Smithfield Police Lt. William Wooley, Kea has been charged with malicious wounding and possession of ammunition by a felon.
