Editor, The Smithfield Times:

On April 9 we experienced a forest fire at our farm on Burwells Bay Road. We want to thank everyone who came out and participated in fighting this fire. 

The wind was blowing and this made the fire go much quicker, but the fire departments and others who helped were able to keep it under control. I will say that when we have a disaster, our county, surrounding area and community pull together, and everyone works for the safety and welfare of others. Isle of Wight County is by far the best place to live.
