Peninsula bluesman Bobby BlackHat, a longtime crowd favorite for the Downtown Smithfield Summer Concert Series, will perform at 7 p.m. June 21 on the Main Street Square stage in front of The Smithfield Times office.
The retired Coast Guard commander has been playing harmonica for over 46 years and has opened for stars like B.B King, Taj Mahal, Delbert McClinton, Patti Labelle, Ramsey Lewis and Maze. He blends the influences of Chicago, Memphis, Piedmont and Delta-style blues.
The Summer Concert Series, which continues through Labor Day weekend, is co-sponsored by the Isle of Wight Arts League, the Times and the Town of Smithfield.
