Three members of the Smithfield High School boys soccer team were named to the Virginia High School League’s Class 4 all-state team. Andy Muepu, a rising senior at SHS, was named to the all-state first team as a midfielder. Logan Young and Jackson Stanley, both rising juniors, were named to the all-state second team as a defender and goalkeeper, respectively. The all-state soccer teams consist of five forwards, five midfielders, five defenders and one goalkeeper. Only players selected first-team all-region are eligible for selection to the all-state team. The all-state selection committee comprises eight coaches, with two from each region.
