As a lifelong resident of Smithfield, I have watched our town change, often in ways that leave me concerned about the direction we are headed. It’s become increasingly clear that our Town Council needs fresh perspectives — voices that truly understand the concerns of everyday citizens and are committed to transparency and responsible leadership.

The upcoming election offers us a chance to bring real change to Smithfield by electing candidates who embody these values. Mike Smith, Bill Harris, Mary Ellen Bebermeyer and Darren Cutler are individuals who share a vision of preserving our town’s charm while ensuring that growth and development are managed with care. Their commitment to transparency, accountability and responsible governance is exactly what Smithfield needs at this critical juncture.

Mike Smith’s years of service on the Town Council have shown his dedication to putting citizens first, while Bill Harris brings a much-needed focus on proactive infrastructure planning and historic preservation. Mary Ellen Bebermeyer’s deep roots in our community and her passion for preserving our small-town feel are matched by Darren Cutler’s commitment to responsible development and fiscal conservatism.

These candidates are not tied to the same interests that have influenced our Town Council for too long. They bring a refreshing commitment to listening to and representing the voices of all Smithfield residents, not just a select few.
