Thank you to Stephen Faleski for the informative article on Benn’s United Methodist Church (“A rock of ages: Benn’s 100-year history preserved in cornerstone,” July 31) and to John Edwards and the other contributors. 

Benn’s became an independent congregation in 1789. The current building was erected 100 years ago. Members of my family attend Benn’s to this day, and my grandparents Rob and Ivey Turner began there in about 1910. 

It is a wonderful country church that is open, welcoming and progressive in its emphasis on the love of The New Testament as preached by Christ. I am proud of the hundreds of people who have made Benn’s so much more than just a building or the name of an intersection.
