Hubert Bradby, Jr., 89, of Smithfield, VA and widower of Joris Wells Bradby departed this life on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA.  Mr. Bradby retired from the Riggers Department X36 at Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. in Newport News, VA in 1995, after 35 years of dedicated service.

He was a dedicated and lifelong member of First Gravel Hill Baptist Church, Smithfield, VA where he served as a Trustee for over 40 years.  He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Y. Bradby; his son, Jeffrey R. Bradby and his wife, Patricia L. Bradby, all of Smithfield, VA; two grandchildren, Ebony Grace Bradby, Hampton, VA and Christopher Myles Bradby, Smithfield, VA; and his brother, Dr. George A. Bradby and his wife, Sarah A. Bradby, Carrollton, VA.

Viewing and Visitation was held from 5-7 PM, Thursday, August 29, 2024 at First Gravel Hill Baptist Church, Smithfield, VA.   His “Celebration of Life” Service was held 11 AM, Friday, August 30, 2024 at First Gravel Hill Baptist Church, Smithfield, VA.
