Editor, The Smithfield Times:

Citizens have longed for and demanded that their elected officials be more transparent, allow for more citizen engagement, listen to their concerns and the prudent management of growth within our town. 

The Citizens for Responsible Leadership (CRL) is a very well organized, informed and educated group of folks whose leadership has been actively engaged in Town Council and Planning Commission dealings for many years. I have been following what they have been doing recently and can say that I am very impressed with what I am hearing and seeing. 

With that said, I firmly stand by their endorsement of Mike Smith, Bill Harris, Mary Ellen Bebermeyer and Darren Cutler for Smithfield Town Council in our upcoming election. I have worked with all these candidates and can say that they certainly have the knowledge, qualifications and passion needed on TC. 

If you are concerned with the direction our leadership is going, I encourage you to go to one of their events and listen to what they have to say. I believe you will come away energized and with a clear understanding of what they represent.
