Editor, The Smithfield Times:

The Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad Auxiliary held a fundraiser on Oct. 5 to assist the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad with funds to purchase items needed to aid our community when running calls.

The following businesses sold tickets: Ace Hardware, The Oaks Veterinary Clinic, Tim Minor’s State Farm Office, The Christmas Store, Pet Paradise and Travis’ Auto Repair.

We would like to thank Captain Bob’s Catering from Hertford, North Carolina, for preparing a delicious meal; all the businesses that assisted with sales; Girl Scout Troop 726 and its leaders Sharon Cook, Mary Jo Albright and Wendy Smith; Office Express for tickets; Jeff Looney, Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad president, and Lacy Looney, Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad treasurer; Tommy Jones and the auxiliary members who sold tickets, worked the Farmers Markets and contributed to the baked goods; and all those who purchased tickets and supported our event.

We are very proud of the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad and the many hours the its volunteers dedicate to training and running calls in our community; this amounts to thousands of volunteer hours each year. Your auxiliary is proud to be able to give our aid and support. We continue to pray for your safety.
