Editor, The Smithfield Times:
The Education Foundation for Isle of Wight County Schools is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds, in the form of grants, for teachers and students in Isle of Wight County. This year, our aim is to raise $50,000 for our deserving teachers and their classrooms, and we are asking for the assistance of local businesses, organizations and individuals to help us make that goal a reality.
Our largest fundraising event is our annual gala. This year, we invite everyone to wear cocktail attire and lace up your favorite kicks for our “Sneaker Ball for Our Schools!” The evening of fun, food and dancing will take place on Friday, Nov. 1, at The Smithfield Center from 5:30-10:00 p.m. The evening will include music, a dinner catered by QDaddy’s, an open bar, and both live and silent auctions. Proceeds from ticket sales and auction bids will go directly toward grants for Isle of Wight County teachers and students.
Tickets for the Sneaker Ball for Our Schools are available on the Education Foundation for Isle of Wight County Schools website, www.iowfoundation.org. Individual tickets and tables of eight are available for purchase, as well as discounted teacher tables with a valid ID.
Each year, the auctions are highly anticipated events at the gala. The Education Foundation receives all of its auction items as donations from local businesses, organizations and citizens. In addition to the auction, we also offer sponsorship opportunities. If you are interested in donating an item or service, or in sponsoring the event, please see our website, or contact us directly at contact@iowfoundation.org.
We are looking forward to donning our cocktail attire and lacing up our sneakers, while raising money to support the outstanding educators and students in our schools. Your feet will thank us.
