Suspect in custody, woman in hospital following Jersey Park shooting

Isle of Wight County sheriff's deputies and Smithfield Police have roped off an area of Jersey Park Apartments where they say a shooting occurred.

A woman is in the hospital and a suspect is in custody following a shooting at Jersey Park Apartments.
According to Deputy Police Chief Chris Meier, Smithfield Police were called to the scene at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Oct. 22, where they say they found a woman who had been shot in the arm.
Meier said an unnamed suspect is in custody. Police say five shots were fired.
The woman was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News.
