Editor, The Smithfield Times:

Regarding recordings of Isle of Wight County Audit Committee meetings, I certainly didn’t mean to offend anyone, the least of which being Lewis Edmonds (“Why delete the tapes?” Oct 16.). 

I am not “hell bent on deleting things,” and was merely following the county attorney’s advice, which was stated again in an Oct. 21 memorandum to the Board of Supervisors.

To be abundantly transparent, the Audit Committee has chosen to make, and preserve, video recordings of our meetings.
