The Virginia State Bar and the Access to Justice Commission of the Supreme Court of Virginia have partnered to host a public hearing in Isle of Wight County on Oct. 29 regarding rural access to legal services.

Access Commission Committee Chairwoman Andrea Bridgeman described the hearing as a listening session. She’s hoping to hear from the public about the specific challenges rural Virginians have had in finding legal representation for themselves or their businesses, or from rural law firms that have struggled to recruit and retain lawyers.

The meeting is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. in the boardroom of the Isle of Wight County government complex at 17140 Monument Circle.
