The roof collapsed shortly after firefighters were evacuated from inside of the house due to the extensive damage. Crews brought the fire under control after 1½ hours.

There were no reported injuries and the remainder of the house is being demolished. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Chief Garry Windley.

The house, prior to the fire, had been listed for sale on Zillow.com.
