Smithfield’s annual Halloween festivities, or Ham-o-ween as it’s known locally, returned to Main and Grace streets on Oct. 31, drawing hundreds of trick-or-treaters and their families. The town closed Main and Grace from 4-8 p.m. to allow residents and merchants to hand out candy. The Smithfield Times once again sponsored the town’s costume contest, awarding prizes for the cutest, scariest and most original costumes in divisions for newborns to age 5, ages 6-12, 13 and up and families and groups.
