Mayo Brock Jones, Jr., 82, of Smithfield, VA, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
He was the son of the late Mayo Brock Jones, Sr. and Mary Fluellen Bryant Jones. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 61 years, Juanita Gwaltney Jones; son, Steven Jones (Margaret); daughter, Kristin McCoy (Jim); grandchildren, Emery, Michelle, Benjamin, Martha, Mac, Ryan and Scott; and a great grandson, Ashton.
Brock was a veteran of the U S Army; he had a long career in contractor sales with Lowe’s Contractor Yard. He had a lifelong love and enjoyment of black powder competitions and reenactments, where he was known to be a skilled marksman and patient mentor. He was a longtime member of the Olde Virginia Primitive Rifleman (OVPR) and the James River Black Powder Club. Brock loved his family, friends and spending time on the farm with them. He will be remembered throughout the community for his random acts of kindness, his famous ham rolls, and legendary peanut brittle.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 1, 2024 from 3 to 4 p.m. at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com
